Kreepy Krawl 2015

What A Day! So New England started off its morning after Halloween with some chilly light sprinkle morning. As Ioaded up the car my hesitation was with the weather. Havent not touched my truck since our last comp where it won I felt it would be good. Motor on was my thinking for the trip down to Rock Island.

Cars loaded, lunches packs, daughter half asleep ………. yup we were on our way.

As we pulled up to Rock Island (just an amazing rock garden man made at a club members house) I noticed something different. There was a lot of frigin people WOW! This year was big thanks to the scale guys. They really brought their game for the day. Us comp guys? Well there was 6 of us but 6 veteran drivers wasn’t gonna make it an easier day. Kreep Krawl is an annual end of the outdoor season crawl basically for ego boosting and trash talking fools like us.

So course one ……. I do my normal stalker looking walk through and lined up 4th. Bang first course done and Im sitting with a +2 score against second with a +high double digit. Hmmm trucks working good. SO I decide while they run shafty class I will set the next pro course and try to keep things rolling.

It was tough, I threw out of bounds at these guys, had some intimidating climbs mixed in. I had to run first …. I now decline to build courses. Made myself to gate 4 and had to 20 out just to move on. Making it to gate 6 was my farthest with gate 10 not even on the radar yet. Everyone else fair much better by watching my debockle.

Course 3 – I stepped to the side and said have at it guys. I figured I just tortured them on the last course and obviously I haven’t gotten the touch of building those yet. Lets see what they come up with. Plus it felt nice to relax and have some great food just off the grill. After a little studying of the course and restudying I got to watch everyone else.

Time for me to run. I saw a lot of lines tried by other drivers and they worked but something told me just stick to what I was planning. One of the biggest things for me coming back after 3 years is overcoming my doubts. Well that and getting practice only at comps. I stuck to my lines, hit the marks I wanted to, cleared both bonus gates and at the end came away with a -36 score. It felt awesome! Truck was working, course was challenging, competition was there and the weather was good.

Felt nice to know everyone now and then this Krazed guy can squeal a good run out.

Big thanks to everyone at Rock Island for the show, tremendous efforts and always a great time. Another thanks to all the drivers. Always a pleasure and honor to drive with you and be able to laugh at each others screw ups. That’s what makes it fun for me – stress followed by a sigh followed by laughing at the stupid things.

Oh yea … one extra piece to take home with me
