Krazed’s Losi un-Stuck
Well we been diddling with this truck for couple season now and had her up and running once but part failure just killed the motivation for us. So many attempts to get back to building her became just boxes full of parts but we finally did it. We got lucky with another vendor on RCCrawler.com who is making a small run of Losi axles converted over to XR’s for more steering. Vendor support among each other does great things for everyone and we were happy to be a source of helpful info on these.
So knowing a converted front axle was gonna end up on our lap we started putting things together on the truck. First we got our un-Stuck chassis together and used some empty axles to make our links. Uppers we went with 1/8 Ti and for lowers was 3/16 7075 Aluminum rod. Our goal on this truck is to get it as light as possible then tune it and add as little wheel weight as possible, honestly if we can get her balanced and under 3pounds we will have achieved our real goal.
Now knowing wheel speed is something the Losi has never been popular for we wanted to try our Insidious trans in here. A year ago when we designed the tranny and tried it in our AX un-Stuck we just didnt like the low end feel to it, or lack of actually. We sidelined the project and was holding out to try it here. After mating it to the skid plate we had ourselves a carcass to work with.
Again weight is our enemy on this truck so we did lighten up the RC4WD gears in the trans, went with Ti output shaft, SDI driveshafts (we turned down some Ti rod in place of the steel shaft) and got all our aluminum screws together. We also chose to try our luck with a Tekin B1r esc, yes we know the rumors … we know its not rated for this … we do all sorts of crazy things to learn what not to do again. Its gonna be running 3S and for now its just a 16T Crawlmaster motor but are failry confident itll handle a Puller 400 once we get it.
Now with all the parts together and some work on the other machines to lighten things up in other areas ….. we got our rig back together and running. First thing we did was hit the scale ……… We’ll let the pictures speak the rest for us.
